Wedding cake for the girl that inspired me to do film and then photos | Yuba City, CA Photographer

Eight years ago, my then boyfriend gave me a CD of this band, Pidgeon. Since I liked the Pixies, he figured I would probably appreciate them too. He knew one of the girls from college and it's always great to support local music. I listened, fell in love, and played their first album, From Gutter with Love, to death. When I woke up, before bed, while sleeping, the album was on repeat. One day, while watching Gilmore Girls (the episode where Rory's grandparents threw her a party where it's only Yale boys in attendance and Dean broke up with her, OMG, scandalous) the music in the background sounded familiar. It was Pidgeon! I looked at my husband and said "I'M GOING TO MAKE A DOCUMENTARY OF THEM!" and I got on Myspace (oh yes I did), e-mailed them there to ask if I can film them and basically shot at the dark. Valerie, responded, said yes, and allowed me to follow them for 5 months. Show after show around the city and rehearsals to document and talk about them and their music. I made my documentary with the help of my filmmaker husband and also my best friend, Angelo, as my producers and post-production. Out of that too, Valerie became one of the greatest friends I've ever made. She is genuinely so kind, so beautiful, so talented. My husband and I couldn't ask for anyone else to be godmother to our son.

I loved it, I fell in love with the process of film-making. I liked talking to people, getting a glimpse of their life. I'm glad Val said yes, because her music and her persona inspired me to fall in love with the whole process of media. Filming was so exciting! I couldn't find time to do film anymore which is why I switched to photography and found a different kind of adoration. But without Pidgeon, without Val, I wouldn't be where I am talent wise. They helped me break ground. It's the foundation I needed, and it has taken me far.

Val asked me to make her wedding cake. She knows how much food has always been my first mode of art. I didn't think twice and said yes. It's an honor to have been asked, to know that I also have great friends that support me like no other. I take cake making way too seriously, I get way too into it, but anything for the girl that replied to my email, and have changed my life forever.

Congratulations, Val and Mike. I wish you guys happiness. Thank you for letting me be a part of your life; in sugar, flour, and butter form.

Hannah & Ryan | Beale AFB, CA Photographer| Maternity

I met Hannah during a play date I scheduled with a bunch of my mom friends around the area. I changed the venue twice, invited many people and had very little time to mingle with everyone. We really only chatted for a few minutes because my son was enamored by a friend's baby and wanted to eat their trail mix. She contacted me afterwards which I'm very glad she did because I have a found a friend, not only beautiful outside, but inside too.

We also both discovered later on that for over a year now, our husbands have been working together and have never met (ok, it is a huge building). They come from the same squadron and it's really rare for us to meet people from the same squadron here. Hannah and Ryan are expecting their first baby and these aren't really maternity pics per se, but just to show and celebrate their life and love and as we dubbed it "early maternity" pictures. This is one of my favorite sets to date. They just radiate so much love and they're just a truly beautiful couple and one of the kindest people I've ever met. I couldn't ask for a better session to send off Summer 2011 with. Enjoy the pics. I sure did have a blast taking them.

Charisma 3 month pictures | Yuba City, CA Photographer| Babies

This sweet little one is the daughter of our very good friends, and her big brother is my son's best friend. I took her newborn pictures too and since she's hit the 3 month milestone, mom and dad needed an update. When she was born, she had an insane amount of hair. Now, she has 3 times that. Oh, and those cheeks, they are so adorable!

We had to torture big brother to take a quick pic with his sister. He looked at me and his mom like we were crazy.

Animal Photography | Marysville, CA Photographer

This is one of our cats. His name is Bert. He weighs about 16-17lbs and he is all meat. I took this picture of him accidentally overexposing it, but I love how it frames his face. Photoshoots this weekend, so look out for more photo previews.

Rings | Yuba City, CA Photographer

My husband and I never had wedding photos. We opted for video instead. Crazy, I know. So we never had tiny detail photos. Almost 7 years of marriage, we finally have a wedding ring picture. That took a little while, huh?

Maternity and Family Session | Marysville, California Photographer

I did this adorable family's pictures at the end of last month. They were referred to me by another client. This was such a fun shoot and I just adore how there's so much love in this family!
